Great Britain is celebrating “Trooping the Colour”, the highlight of the royal calendar. Three members of the royal family mounted their horses for the event.

Today, June 15, “Trooping the Colour” will take place in Great Britain in honour of the birthday of King Charles III (75) celebrated. The parade is the biggest event of the year for the British royal family. The heir to the throne Prince William (41) as well as his uncle Prince Edward (60) and his aunt Princess Anne (73) took part in the march with over 1,400 soldiers on horseback.

One picture shows the three royals lined up during the parade on decorated black horses. Prince William and Prince Edward wear the classic bearskin hats of the British Army in addition to their red military uniforms. Princess Anne also wears a uniform and her bicorn hat with a red plume.

King Charles in the carriage this year

At Trooping the Colour, it is traditional for members of the royal family to take part in the parade on horseback or in carriages. Last year, King Charles rode along with his son and siblings on horseback. This year, however, the king, who is suffering from cancer, rode in a carriage with his wife Queen Camilla on the advice of his doctors.

William, Edward and Anne are only playing a minor role in the celebrations in London today, as all eyes are on Princess Kate (42). She also rode in a carriage with her three children. The participation of William’s wife in the event was a big surprise. Kate had announced at the beginning of the year that she was also suffering from cancer and had since withdrawn from the public eye.
