A boy and a girl were traveling together on an electric scooter on Tuesday evening when they collided with a car at an intersection. Now both are dead.

Two young people died in an accident with their e-scooter in downtown Saarbrücken. The boy and the girl were traveling together on the electric scooter on Tuesday evening when they collided with a car at an intersection, the police in Saarbrücken said. The two youths were thrown onto the street by the force of the impact and suffered fatal injuries.

The police did not want to give any information about the age of the dead. In order to determine the identity of the young people, extensive investigations were initially necessary, the police said on Wednesday. Both came from Saarbrücken.

The investigation into the cause of the accident was still ongoing in the afternoon. An expert report was commissioned to clarify the course of the accident, the police said.

The 44-year-old driver of the car was unharmed. Driving in pairs on an e-scooter is not allowed, said the police spokesman.
