Coalition agreement
:
“We will take over government in a time of crisis”

The most important man comes last. At 11.44 a.m. the future Chancellor climbs out of the armored black Mercedes, bodyguards in position. Olaf Scholz already has the insignia of power as the managing finance minister. He swings into a blue jacket and without a word springs up the steel stairs to warehouse 1 in Berlin’s Westhafen. If his facial expression reveals something about his emotional state on the day on which he wants to introduce the new traffic light coalition, the black mask over his mouth and nose does not reveal anything. Later that day, when he steps in front of the cameras, he will say, “The situation is grave.”
