Travelers will have to be patient on the A1, A2 and A7 motorways this weekend. As on Friday and Saturday, there were traffic jams in many places on Sunday.
In the afternoon, the A1 Osnabrück towards Bremen between Bremen/Brinkum and Hemelingen was closed after an accident, traffic was backed up over a length of ten kilometers. On the A2 Dortmund in the direction of Hanover, a construction site blocked the flow of traffic between Bad Nenndorf and Wunstorf-Luthe all weekend. In and around Hamburg progress was also sometimes slow, for example on the A1 from Lübeck in the direction of Bremen between Hamburg-Billstedt and Stillhorn or on the A23 from Hamburg in the direction of Heide between Dreieck Hamburg-Nordwest and Halstenbek-Krupunder.
What the streets are like at the moment you can find out around the clock in the NDR traffic studio.
Also on Saturday heavy traffic in the north
On Saturday, the roads were particularly dense in the morning and around noon. In the afternoon, the traffic situation relaxed, said an ADAC spokesman. The situation on the streets has “calmed down a bit”. Traffic was backed up on Autobahn 1 north of Osnabrück near Bramsche in the direction of Bremen. In front of the Ems tunnel on Autobahn 31, traffic was temporarily stuck for four kilometers in the direction of the North Sea. There was also a long traffic jam on Saturday on Autobahn 2 from Dortmund in the direction of Hanover near Bad Nenndorf. South of the Elbe tunnel in Hamburg, it was backed up on the A7 over a distance of seven kilometers.
With the exception of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, all federal states have holidays
Since, with the exception of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, all federal states are now on summer vacation, a particularly large number of travelers are on the road up to and including today, according to the ADAC. There had already been a standstill on several trunk roads on Friday.

Elbe Tunnel to the south closed at the weekend
In the Hamburg area, returnees must expect long waiting times, a spokeswoman said. Due to a full closure to the south, the Elbe tunnel was not passable until 5 a.m. on Monday. A diversion has been set up from Neumünster-Süd. If you want to get through faster, you should try to travel back at night or on Monday morning, the ADAC recommends. According to the ADAC, holidaymakers must also expect longer travel times on their way to the Netherlands. In the past few weeks, farmers have repeatedly blocked roads, causing traffic jams that can stretch for kilometers in some cases.
According to the ADAC, traffic jams are to be expected on these motorways in the north:
A1 Bremen – Luebeck
A2 Hanover – Brunswick
A7 Hamburg – Flensburg
A7 Hamburg – Hanover
A11 Berlin – Uckermark triangle
A19 junction Wittstock – Rostock
A24 Berlin – Hamburg
