Trade unionists arrested after a fire in front of the gates of the prefecture on March 16

On March 16, when Elisabeth Borne has just initiated article 49.3 to pass the pension reform, a demonstration is improvised in the streets of Albi accounting for nearly 500 people. Quickly, some meet in front of the Tarn prefecture and flaming trash cans are thrown on the gates of the building.

This Thursday, six trade unionists, suspected of having committed these degradations, were arrested and placed in custody according to LFI MP Karen Erodi. Information confirmed by the Albi prosecutor, Stéphanie Bazart and Tarn trade unionists.

“Colleagues from the FSU, the Confédération paysanne and Sud were arrested as terrorists, when they could have been summoned. We denounce the atmosphere of intimidation. We have frank concern about the authoritarian drift, ”reacted Benoît Foucambert, co-secretary of the FSU of Tarn.

Dozens of supporters gathered in front of the Albi police station to protest against these arrests. On the day of the events, the prefect of Tarn had denounced these acts and indicated that he had “asked the national police to do everything possible to arrest the perpetrators of these unacceptable acts”.
