Denmark can continue to dream of the third title in a row at the Handball World Championship. The gold winner of 2019 and 2021 easily qualified for the semi-finals with an easy 40:23 (21:12) against Hungary.

There is a duel with Spain on Friday. The European Championship runner-up prevailed in a dramatic quarter-final against Norway after two extra hours with 35:34 (29:29, 25:25, 13:12).

The Danes demonstrated their class in a one-sided game in Stockholm and impressively underlined their ambitions to win the title again. The best thrower for Nikolaj Jacobsen’s team was Mathias Gidsel from Bundesliga leaders Füchse Berlin with nine goals.

It was much more exciting in Gdansk, where both teams exchanged blows. In regular time, despite being outnumbered, Spain managed to equalize at the last second to make it 25:25 and thus forced extra time, in which there was also no winner after ten minutes. Only after the second extra shift did the European champion of 2018 and 2020 celebrate.
