“After more than a year of uncertainty and waiting, it’s finally validated! I’m getting my ticket for the Tokyo Olympics, I’m getting a little closer to my dream, ”enthusiastic boxer Sofiane Oumiha after the match between him on Saturday against Moldovan Alexandru Paraschiv.

The 26-year-old Toulousain won on points in the round of 16 in the -63 kg Olympic qualifying tournament in Villebon-sur-Yvette, in Essonne. Fifteen months after being cut off in its tracks, thanks to this victory, the Habs set foot in the stirrup and thus joined Billal Bennama and Samuel Kistohurry, qualified since March 2020.

Going for gold to seek this summer in the land of the rising sun will be his last meeting among amateurs. Sofiane Oumiha, who has been involved since Rio in the creation of a boxing hall in the Pink City, will soon turn professional.
