Mega club wants Kroos

If this top club knocks, you can think about a change…

Toni Kroos (32) is said to have received a lucrative offer from Manchester City. This is reported by the Spanish website “Defensa Central”. He could have earned almost twice as much as he currently does at Real Madrid.

But so far the former German national player has remained steadfast and clearly rejected the offer. Would it stay that way if city coach Pep Guardiola (51) made an even better offer to Kroos?

The answer is very likely yes. “Defensa Central” writes that Kroos definitely wants to end his career at Real Madrid. The midfield strategist has repeatedly confirmed this in interviews.

His contract expires in 2023. Kroos himself says about his future: “Either I’ll play another year for Real Madrid or I’ll end my career.” Despite these clear words, Manchester City started a poaching attempt at Toni Kroos.

According to the report, Pep offered Kroos a contract worth around €13-14m net. The Spanish newspaper “Sport” writes that Kroos’ net salary at Real is nine million euros.

In 2016, Kroos extended his contract with Real until 2022 and received a gross annual salary of 20 million euros. In May 2019 he extended it by another year until 2023. At the end of his career, Kroos could have earned significantly more at City than at Real.

Kroos clearly declined, although he got along very well with Pep in the past. In the 2013/2014 season, the two worked together at Bayern. Kroos said of the Spanish world coach: “Guardiola fought for me to stay at Bayern until the last day. If I have to choose a coach that suits my game perfectly, it’s Guardiola. I really enjoyed the year with him, he improved me a lot.”

At Real Madrid, Toni Kroos is already a club legend. In total, he made 383 appearances (26 goals, 87 assists) for Real Madrid. He was four-time Champions League winner (2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022), four-time club world champion (2014, 2016, 2017, 2018) three-time Spanish champion (2017, 2020, 2022) and three-time cup winner (2018, 2020, 2022).

Despite the lucrative city offer, Kroos apparently still sees his future at Real – or no longer actively on the football pitch.
