Tom Hanks and Robin Wright appeared in front of the camera for the first time since “Forrest Gump” – as young as ever thanks to modern technology.

It has been exactly 30 years since Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks, 67) fell for his great love Jenny (Robin Wright, 58). It is thanks to “Forrest Gump” director Robert Zemeckis (72) that the two will once again become a cinematic dream couple in 2024. In the first trailer for Zemeckis’ new film “Here”, Hanks and Wright are not only seen side by side again – thanks to computer technology, they are also as young (or even younger) than in the six-time Oscar-winning film from 1994.

A special place in the history of mankind

“Here” is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Richard McGuire (67) and has a premise that is as simple as it is impressive: the entire action takes place in one place and, as the trailer shows, runs through the era of the dinosaurs to the beginnings of humanity up to the moment when a house is built on the spot with a single camera shot. The main action in the original takes place there between the years 1902 and 2029.

In this very special chamber play, viewers witness the love of Hanks and Wright’s characters over a period of several decades – from the first tentative declaration of love as a young couple to old age. A new tool was used for this that could transform the actors into younger versions of themselves on set and in real time – a first in the previously very time-consuming and costly technology of digital rejuvenation.

The “Forrest Gump” reunion is not yet complete with Hanks, Wright and Zemeckis. The adapted screenplay for “Here” was written by Eric Roth (79) – who also won the Oscar in 1995 for his script for Gump’s unusual hero’s journey. Other roles in “Here” include Marvel star Paul Bettany (53) and “Yellowstone” actress Kelly Reilly (46). The film will be released in the USA on November 15th.
