It sounds pretty absurd at first: Ex-NFL professional Tom Brady, 44, worries that his three children won’t be able to have a normal childhood due to the family’s wealth.

Tom Brady has a life that is the envy of many: The football player can look back on an extremely successful career and can now rest carefree on his fortune. He has a beautiful wife, Brazilian model Gisele Bundchen, and three healthy children. So everything you could wish for. But even the very rich, 1.93 meter tall ex-sports professional has problems in life. It’s kind of comforting.

In the case of Tom Brady, it’s about raising his children – John, 14, Benjamin, 12, and Vivien, 9. The problem with that is – yes, really – his net worth of around $250 million.

Because that makes it difficult to bring “real life” closer to the little ones. Brady complains that he and his wife “have people” to cook, clean, shop for them and drive them to the airport if necessary. They hardly have to do anything themselves.

“This is the reality my kids live in and the hard part is trying to get them to understand that the world isn’t really like that,” Brady said in a Spotify podcast interview.

Tom Brady grew up in modest circumstances

This lawsuit from the father of three, which at first glance seems quite absurd, could cause incomprehension, scornful laughter or even anger – especially among families who hardly have enough money to get through the month.

They certainly have more difficulty in providing their offspring with a good childhood, and certainly less time and rest to spend time with the children. Those are fair comments.

But both Bundchen and Brady come from very humble backgrounds, so they know “normal” life and have themselves experienced a childhood where money was always scarce.

This is probably one of the reasons why both of them notice the difference between their own childhood and that of their own offspring all the more clearly. And that they don’t want the little ones growing up in a bubble of luxury, far removed from real life, is something the couple should give credit for.
