To install the infrastructures which will be used for the competition, the first access closures will be put in place from Friday May 17. The Concorde station on line 12 will also no longer be served.
From Friday, Parisians will begin to see their traffic modified by the Olympic Games, which will take place in the capital from July 24. Seven temporary sites are to be created in the heart of Paris during the competition.
To host the festivities, the Town Hall Square was chosen. Concerning the places intended for the tests, these are the Eiffel Tower, the Esplanade des Invalides, the Alexandre-III bridge, the Trocadéro and the Place de la Concorde.
Metro: Concorde station inaccessible on line 12
It is precisely Concorde station that Parisians will no longer be able to access from Friday May 17. More precisely that of metro 12, becoming inaccessible until September 21, according to the site anticipaterlesjeux.gouv.fr. LThe site is the subject of a project which should make it possible to host BMX, freestyle, skateboarding, breaking and 3×3 basketball events.
Users accustomed to getting off at this station will now have to do so at Madeleine and continue on foot. Or take lines 1 and 8. Concorde station will be completely closed from June 17. In addition, the north-south axis will also be inaccessible by car from tomorrow. Its reopening is partially scheduled for September 7.
Axes closed to traffic
In addition to the north-south axis of Place de la Concorde (8th arrondissement), two other traffic lanes will be closed to traffic from tomorrow: the Alexandre III bridge (8th arrondissement) and avenue Gallieni (7th arrondissement). The Alexandre III Bridge is to host the Triathlon, paratriathlon and marathon swimming events, as well as the cycling event. Only pedestrians will be able to continue crossing the bridge. The reopening of this axis is scheduled for September 20, 2024.
The Esplanade des Invalides is preparing to host the archery, para archery and cycling events. It will also be the finishing point of the Olympic Games marathon. Nearby, Avenue Gallieni will no longer see cars passing by from this Friday. The reopening of the avenue should take place on September 25.
