Three construction sites will disrupt traffic this summer and back to school

Are you about to take the vacation road? Watch out for traffic jams that could occur on your way. This summer and at the start of the school year, at least three major construction sites will disrupt traffic on busy roads around Nantes. Point.

The Porte de Gesvres is finally transformed

The first project and not the least, the transformation of the Porte de Gesvres will finally start, for about three years. Regularly saturated due to its bottleneck, the site will consist of 2×2-way upgrade of this 3 km portion of the outskirts of Nantes. After the preparatory work, we get to the heart of the matter on Monday with earthworks. Reductions in lanes, cuts in ramps, lowering of speed are to be expected. The cost of this operation is 48 million euros, mainly financed by Vinci.

A portion of the inner periphery closed in August

Much shorter (one week), this other site planned on the ring road still risks upsetting a certain number of motorists. Because from August 3 to 10, the inner ring road between the gates of Carquefou and Anjou
will be closed ! Emergency work must indeed take place to re-waterproof the bridge (the layer located between the structure and the roadway) which spans the railway tracks at Sainte-Luce. “Despite the period and the deviations that will be put in place [via l’A11 et l’A811], we are unfortunately expecting congestion, ”predicts Frédéric Lechelon, director of DirOuest.

At the start of the school year, things will get stuck between Rennes and Nantes

From mid-September, we will have to take our troubles patiently on the RN 137. The journey time between Rennes and Nantes could lengthen by 30 minutes during rush hour, forecasts the DirOuest! For eight weeks, 7 days a week and 24 hours a day to limit the duration of the site, renovation work on the roadway and fitting out interchanges will take place near Héric. As a result, traffic will switch to 2 x 1 lane until November 5… Ramps will also be closed.

In 2021, 14 million euros have or will be invested by the State for the maintenance of 280 km of the road network in Loire-Atlantique. Another important operation is the development of a lane reserved for public transport (on the emergency lane) on the A83 motorway towards Bordeaux. Operations must take place from September 2021
