Three and a half years in prison for assaulting his parents

A 34-year-old man was sentenced by the Béziers Criminal Court to three years in prison, to which was added the revocation of a six-month probationary suspension. On May 7, he was presented to the Béziers public prosecutor’s office and returned for immediate appearance for acts of violence against ascendants and violence, death threats, and insults against persons holding public authority.

On May 5, the gendarmes of Murviel-les-Béziers intervened in Saint-Geniès-de-Fontedit, at the home of a 62-year-old couple who had just been violently attacked by their son. A child they were sheltering and was under the influence of alcohol. “The latter had managed to escape after receiving several kicks and punches, details the public prosecutor, Raphaël Balland. When the soldiers arrived, the defendant was particularly aggressive, uttering insults and death threats against the police. He had kicked a gendarme twice in the head as well as a head butt to a second soldier.

Already sentenced six times on a background of alcoholism

The psychiatrist who examined him during police custody concluded that his judgment was impaired without total abolition. He had already been convicted six times since 2009, mainly for acts of driving under the influence of an alcoholic state, and more recently in January 2021 already for insults and a rebellion, facts for which he was on probation.
