Thousands are stuck because of the FTI bankruptcy. Does travel insurance work? – Economy

The holiday on Fuerteventura could hardly have ended in a more unpleasant way. When the German guests, a married couple and the woman’s 91-year-old mother, wanted to return to their rooms after dinner on Monday evening, the couple’s room was locked. A hotel employee opened it briefly so they could get their credit card. They were asked to pay for the hotel stay for themselves and their mother themselves, now that their tour operator FTI is bankrupt. 4,500 euros, an immense sum, but what could they do? The police were standing in the lobby – not to support blackmailed guests, but to support the hotelier who wanted to see money. Fuerteventura Newspaper reports similar cases in other houses of the chain.
