Third death by drowning in less than 24 hours on the coast of Brittany

Ile-Grande SNSM volunteers were the unfortunate witnesses of two fatal accidents in less than twenty-four hours. This Wednesday morning, shortly before 10:30 a.m., rescuers at sea were called for help by the Regional Operational Surveillance Center (Cross) Corsen to rescue a person who had fallen from his boat.

A boat was seen drifting off this island located off Pleumeur-Bodou, in the Côtes-d’Armor. Seen by a witness, the body of the victim was fished out by the emergency services, who attempted cardiac massage. In vain, since the yachtsman was declared dead by a doctor from Smur de Lannion.

Already two dead the day before

The day before, the emergency services had already intervened in the same sector to rescue a walker. This 72-year-old man was caught by the tide when he wanted to walk to Île du Corbeau from Île Grande, in Pleumeur-Bodou. He could not be saved. However, the sea was calm at the time of the incident, and the sky was clear.

The same day, a yachtsman died in Belle-Ile-en-Mer (Morbihan) in the evening. According to the emergency services, the man was found in cardiopulmonary arrest on his boat and could not be revived.
