There will be a 10th national day of mobilization, March 28

They want to keep the pressure on. At the end of a national day of mobilization particularly followed, the unions announced Thursday evening a tenth day of strikes and demonstrations, Tuesday, March 28, to protest against the pension reform. Proximity union rallies this weekend are also announced this weekend.

“While the executive seeks to turn the page, this long-lasting and responsible social and trade union movement confirms the determination of the world of work and youth to obtain the withdrawal of the reform”, they affirmed at the end of a ninth day of mobilization.

“An answer to incomprehensible stubbornness”

The CGT estimates that 3.5 million people demonstrated this Thursday in France. This is as much as March 7, according to the central trade union, and about twice as much as the last day of mobilization on March 15. The Ministry of the Interior has counted just over a million people on the streets this Thursday in France.

The day was also marked by a very well-attended strike in public services, as well as outbursts of violence, particularly in Paris, Nantes, Toulouse and Rennes.

The demonstrations, strikes and walkouts “are a response to the untruths expressed by the President of the Republic and his incomprehensible stubbornness”, underlined the unions. “The responsibility for the explosive situation therefore does not lie with the trade unions but with the government,” they added.
