Fighting has resumed in the Ethiopian state of Tigray. Millions of people are threatened by hunger and genocide – but the conflict is hardly an issue internationally. Would it be different if the victims were white?

On Facebook you can still see what the little amusement park for children looked like before the bombs hit it. There is a climbing wall, a big carousel like at a folk festival, car scooters and video games. “The safest place for your children” was the slogan of the “RES Kids Paradise” in Mek’ele in northern Ethiopia. Now at least two children are dead, hit by rockets fired by an Ethiopian Air Force jet on Friday directly at the children’s paradise that has become hell. For the escalation of the conflict in Ethiopia could have again once Children “paid the heaviest price,” said Unicef Executive Director Catherine Russell.
