AMC has brought good news to the fans of “The Walking Dead”: The series “Tales of the Walking Dead” will celebrate its premiere in 2022.

AMC announced in a notice this Tuesday (October 12) that the new spin-off series for “The Walking Dead” will be released in summer 2022. “Tales of the Walking Dead” is an “episodic anthology” that illuminates the background stories of existing or new characters. The plot of the one-hour episodes stands for itself. It is not yet known which figures are the focus.

Channing Powell, writer and producer of “The Walking Dead” and “Fear the Walking Dead,” will be the showrunner. Production of the first season with six episodes is slated to begin early next year and launch on AMC and AMC + in the summer of 2022. The aim of the anthology series is to reward loyal fans, but also to offer new viewers the opportunity to get into the story, explains AMC’s Dan McDermott in a statement.

Large “The Walking Dead” universe

The original series “The Walking Dead” ends with the current eleventh season. The offshoot “Fear the Walking Dead” was extended by a sixth season in July 2019. The second spin-off “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” starts on October 5th in Germany and Austria on Amazon Prime Video. Another spin-off is also being planned and should flicker on TV screens in 2023. It is designed to focus on the story of popular characters Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus, 52) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride, 56).
