Will Mark Forster finally win or will Sarah Connor triumph on her debut? Five teams are in the final of “The Voice of Germany”. They can all sing, but who has what it takes to win? The candidate check.

A few days before Christmas, the finale of the current season “The Voice of Germany” takes place in Berlin. Especially new juror Sarah Connor had to struggle with ups and downs in the past few months. After a successful march through the blind auditions, the singer fell ill with Corona and was only able to follow the battles via video call from the home office. Then she had to do without two talents from her team: candidate Anton Verzani left voluntarily, his colleague Anouar Chauech was disqualified because he was said to have broken the rules. Connor still has a chance of victory: Her finalist Katarina Mihaljevic is one of the favorites.

The final will be broadcast live on Sunday evening (8:15 p.m. on Sat.1) and moderated by Lena Gercke and Steven Gätjen. Guests include singers James Blunt, Calum Scott, James Arthur, Michael Patrick Kelly and James Morrison. They will all perform one song each with the finalists. Singer Birdy will present her new song “I only want to be with you”. On the other hand, the planned appearance of superstar Ed Sheeran was canceled: There were several corona cases in his team.

The viewers decide who wins with their calls, SMS and votes via the app. The five finalists in check.

Sebastian Krenz from Team Johannes

He is the only solo singer in the final and prevailed against ESC participant Ann Sophie Dürmeyer, whom he clearly defeated in the semifinals. The 29-year-old convinced the jury and audience with ballads by Jon Bon Jovi and the Scorpions. Krenz scored above all with his confident head voice and always performed sovereign performances. “Maybe it’s a little bit my natural way. Not weird, not conceited, not completely daft – just a little,” said Krenz when asked why he is so popular with the audience. In the finale he sings with James Arthur his hit “SOS” and his own single “What They Call Life”, which he recorded together with his coach Johannes Oerding.

Prediction for the final: A placement among the top three should be Sebastian Krenz.

Katarina Mihaljevic from Team Sarah

At first glance she looks inconspicuous, but when she sings everyone holds their breath. Singer Sarah Connor is regularly moved to tears by Mihaljevic’s voice. She sings songs by Adele or Leona Lewis seemingly effortlessly. “I think people like that I sing with a lot of emotions. I’m just the ballad singer. I just hope that I can keep conveying my feelings and that people keep choosing me,” said the 21- Year olds. With her mentor Sarah Connor she recorded the track “Girl In A Big Shirt”, which went straight to the charts. In addition to the song, Mihaljevic appears in the finale together with Michael Patrick Kelly and his hit “Blurry Eyes”.

Prediction for the final: Sarah Connor has a large fan base. That could help Katarina Mihaljevic at least to second place.

Florian and Charlene Gallant from Team Mark

The married couple Florian and Charlene are in the running for Mark Forster. The singer has been a coach at “The Voice of Germany” since 2017 – but has never won before. A flaw that Sarah Connor in particular has teased him with regularly in the current season. Whether that will change this year is questionable, because the duo Gallant is entering the race as outsiders. In the finale, the two of them stand on stage with James Morrison and perform his title “Who’s Gonna Love Me Now?”. “He’s a world star, that’s a huge number. We are grateful that we were chosen for it,” said Florian Gallant. In addition, the couple will present the song “Above And Beyond” together with Mark Forster.

Prediction for the final: This year, too, it will probably not be a triumph for Mark Forster.

Gugu Zulu from Team Nico

She is by far the most experienced talent in the final. In addition to “The Voice of Germany”, the 29-year-old is regularly on the musical stage in Hamburg and appears in “The Lion King”. But does that also make her a sure winner? “I would really love to win. I worked so hard for it. All the crazy double shifts (…) and always driving back and forth between Berlin and Hamburg. It was worth it because I’m in the final now, but it would mean so much more to win it too. Just for my mother, she’s already incredibly proud, “said Zulu. Her coach Nico Santos wrote the song “When It Goes Down” for her, which they perform together in the finale. In addition, Gugu is allowed to stand on stage with Calum Scott and sing his hit “Rise”.

Prediction for the final: Gugu Zulu is the favorite for many and could give Nico Santos his first win.

Linda Elsener from Team Elif

The Voice of Germany: Linda Elsener

At the age of 20 she is the youngest and made it to the finals via the comeback stage. After leaving Johannes Oerding’s team, Linda got a second chance from singer Elif. Together they wrote the final song “How To Fall in Love”. In addition, the Swiss will appear together with James Blunt. “When I found out, I was really shocked because he’s such a blatant giant star. I can’t even imagine being on stage with him. I’m really happy,” said the student.

Prediction for the final: Linda Elsener is unlikely to be so present with many viewers. A place in the top three would be quite a surprise.

The finale of “The Voice of Germany” runs on December 19, 2021 at 8.15 p.m. on Sat.1
