The ultra-right group of the Alvarium dissolved in the Council of Ministers

According to the dissolution decree, the Alvarium, known for making the punch in Angers, has been propagating in particular “since 2018 a speech and ideas assimilating immigration and Islam to threats that the French must fight”. The ultra-right group, involved “in acts of violence” and “calling for violence and discrimination”, was dissolved this Wednesday in the Council of Ministers, announced the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin.

Created in January 2018, the association, which defines itself as “a community center of social and cultural actions in Anjou”, had illegally occupied a vacant building in 2020, on the facade of which had been hung banners “France to the French And “Housing: apply national preference”.

“Our hand does not tremble in the face of racism”

In recent months, several regulars at the Alvarium had in particular been convicted under the plea-guilty procedure by the Angers Criminal Court for violence in meetings and flag theft. “The Alvarium fuels an assumed hate speech” and “inciting discrimination or violence against people because of their origin or their religion”, also specifies the decree.

Jean-Eudes Gannat, spokesperson and co-founder of the Alvarium, spoke of the attacks committed on French soil before adding: “The only reaction of the Minister of the Interior is to dissolve the Alvarium”. “France is going to ruin and everything will pay off one day,” he continued. “Our hand does not tremble in the face of racism and violence and we are showing it once again with this decision”, for his part commented the government spokesman, Gabriel Attal, after the Council of Ministers.
