The tariff shield will be maintained until the beginning of 2025, announces Bruno Le Maire

The tariff shield on electricity, put in place by the French government since October 2021 to limit increases in bills, will be maintained for another two years, announced Friday the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, on LCI.

“I give us two years, by the start of 2025, to get out of the electricity shield”, because of the tariffs which remain “very high” compared to the pre-crisis situation, he said. . On the other hand, he believes that the extension of the price shield on gas, in place until the end of this year, is no longer justified because natural gas prices have fallen significantly since the peaks of 2022.
