The shuttle linking La Chapelle-sur-Erdre and the Chantrerie will no longer sail

Do not look for the next few months for the river shuttle linking La Chapelle-sur-Erdre (port of Grimaudière) to the Chantrerie district in Nantes: the boat will no longer make round trips on the Erdre. The decision was taken by Nantes Métropole, after three years of experimentation with the service, operated since 2021 by Semitan. “The balance sheet remains below expected attendance with an average of 66 climbs per day, where the objective set was to reach 160 climbs per day. In addition, the pontoon on the Chapelle-sur-Erdre side no longer allows safe docking and requires adjustments”, justifies the community.

The latter, however, leaves the door open for a resumption of activity on Sunday. “The use of Sundays (485 climbs per day) demonstrates the touristic interest of this link, the future of which will be analyzed in conjunction with the project stakeholders”, indicates Nantes Métropole.

The Erdre smuggler (N3) is maintained

A collective of users and local residents is opposed to stopping the service. He points out that the Jonelière and Sucé-sur-Erdre bridges are 13 km apart. The elected officials of La Chapelle-sur-Erdre whose mayor, Fabrice Roussel (PS), is none other than the first vice-president of the metropolisare also against the metropolitan decision.

The operation of the Navibus N3, also nicknamed “passeur de l’Erdre”, is not threatened. It connects the Nantes districts of Petit-Port and Port-Boyer every day.
