The series “American Crime Story” tells the Monica Lewinsky scandal – media

Monica Lewinsky had to endure a lot of malice when her affair with then US President Bill Clinton became known. “American Crime Story” wants to tell the story from the perspective of women. Can it work?

Long before the series “American Crime Story: Impeachment”, the Monica Lewinsky scandal was a terrific, juicy trash story. It began in 1995 when she had an affair with then-President Bill Clinton as a 22-year-old intern in the White House, and ended long after Clinton was impeached by Congress. At the time, the American nation watched with fascination as it developed from gossip to historical drama. Everything was in there. A far too young thing from a good family, a far too powerful guy from a nasty backwoods area, a whole hundred dubious minor characters from the depths of the Washington offices and the province of Arkansas, where Bill Clinton was born and a politician. Some spoke in the robotic style of the apparatchiks, others in the hillbilly dialect of the south. More contrast is hardly possible.
