The sale and use of fireworks prohibited from Saturday until the New Year

As in many cities, France’s victories over England and Morocco in the World Cup were celebrated with wild fireworks in several districts of Rennes. Scenes that the prefect of Ille-et-Vilaine does not want to see happen again on Sunday for the final against Argentina. “To prevent any threat to public security and peace”, Emmanuel Berthier has therefore just issued an order prohibiting the sale of flammable or explosive chemicals and the use of fireworks throughout the department from midnight this Friday night.

This ban will be in effect throughout the end of the year holidays since the prefectural decree runs until January 2, 2023 at 6 a.m. As has been the case for several years now, the take-out sale and consumption on public roads of alcoholic beverages will also be prohibited from December 31 at 6 p.m. until January 1, 2023 at 8 a.m.
