The rights and religion – culture

The right makes pacts with the pious – not only in Israel. Considering that national religious movements are fueling conflicts from Russia to Sri Lanka, they are surprisingly little noticed in the West.

The recent attacks in Israel are not the only challenge for the country’s new government, which sees itself as the guarantor of security like no other. They encounter an Israeli society whose internal conflicts have long since become so fundamental that they are driving tens of thousands of Israelis onto the streets against the strictly religious governing coalition. There is great concern about the religious restructuring of the country, so the mass protests continued with a minute’s silence for the victims of Palestinian terror.
