The special episode of Friends, where the six actors and friends will reunite 17 years after the series ends, premieres on HBO Max on May 27. The event will also bring together a host of distinguished guests.

This special episode was originally scheduled to be broadcast at the end of May 2020 for the launch of the streaming platform. But the Covid-19 pandemic has forced production to postpone filming. In addition to the six actors, the episode will see many stars: Justin Bieber, the K-pop group BTS, the former footballer David Beckham or Lady Gaga, indicates a statement released on Thursday.

On Netflix since 2015

HBO Max also released a trailer for the episode, which is limited to a long shot of the show’s six heroes, from behind, walking around. “The One Where They Get Back Together”, says the title of the episode, using the wording similar to all the episodes of the series, which all started with “the one” (“The One”) .

The cult series Friends (1994-2004) marked a generation of television viewers. Its arrival on Netflix in 2015 allowed the platform to seduce a new audience, confirming the intact popularity of the series. In 2019, the WarnerMedia group reclaimed the rights to broadcast the most popular sitcom of the past 20 years, for $ 425 million over five years.

The 236 old episodes of Friends are already available on HBO Max since May 2020. According to Variety, the six historical actors, co-executive producers of the reunion episode, would have negotiated a fee of $ 2.5 million each for the filming of this single show.
