Some lines will only be open during peak hours. Metro and RER traffic will be “very disrupted” on Tuesday for the second day of mobilization against the pension reform project, according to the RATP, which details his predictions here. Traffic should be less disrupted than on January 19, with only the small metro line 3bis being closed all day, the RATP said on Monday in a press release specifying the forecasts established on Sunday.
Lines 3, 6, 8, 11 and 13 will only be open during peak hours – usually 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., but with variations – on certain sections, with frequencies varying from 1 in 3 trains to 1 train out of 5. Lines 5, 7, 7bis, 9 and 10 will also operate at peak times, over their entire length, apart from a few closed stations, and with variable frequencies.
Risk of saturation on automated lines
Line 4, partially automated, will run all day, with 1 train out of 2 at peak times and 1 train out of 4 at off-peak hours. Lines 2 and 12 will run from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. with 1 train out of 3 at peak times and 1 train out of 4 at off-peak hours. Lines 1 and 14, automated, will operate normally, the RATP warning against a risk of saturation.
On all these lines, a certain number of stations will remain closed, such as Alésia, Bastille, Montparnasse-Bienvenüe, Opéra or République. There will be only one train out of 2 during peak hours for the RER A and 1 train out of 4 during off-peak hours, with an end of service around midnight.
Slight disruptions for trams
Only 1 train out of 2 will run at peak times and 1 train out of 3 at off-peak hours on the southern part of the RER B operated by the RATP, the interconnection not being ensured with the northern part where the SNCF plans 1 train out of 3 at peak times and 1 in 2 at off-peak times. The situation should be much better for RATP buses, with 8 out of 10 crossings in Paris and in the inner suburbs.
On the tram side, the RATP expects normal traffic on lines T6 and T8, almost normal traffic on T3b and slight disruptions on T1, T2, T3a, T5 and T7. The RATP invites all travelers who can to favor teleworking or to postpone their trips.
