The Prime Minister renounces a vote of confidence after his general policy speech

It is not an obligation, but a symbol loaded with meaning… Prime Minister Michel Barnier, deprived of an absolute majority in the National Assembly, will not seek a vote of confidence on Tuesday following his general policy declaration, in which he will present his roadmap, his entourage announced Monday.

Each new head of government delivers a general policy declaration to Parliament, following which a debate takes place, which may or may not be followed by a vote. The Constitution in its article 49-1 does not make it an obligation.
