The number of unemployed in the district of Ebersberg is rising slightly – Ebersberg

At the beginning of the year, the number of unemployed in the district rose slightly. This emerges from a press release from the Freising Employment Agency, which is also responsible for Ebersberg. According to this, 190 more women and men were unemployed in January than in the previous month. A total of 2109 people are currently registered as unemployed in the Ebersberg district, which corresponds to a rate of 2.5 percent. In January a year ago, the unemployment rate was 2.2 percent.

“In the cold season, companies in sectors that are dependent on the weather often find themselves forced to severely limit their operations and sometimes even lay off staff. That’s why a significant increase in unemployment figures in January is typical for the season,” says Nikolaus Windisch, head of the Employment Agency Freising. Experience has shown that with rising temperatures in spring, unemployment among employees in external occupations falls again.

Many workers are still being sought throughout the region

The effects of the war in Ukraine, which are currently also being felt on the regional labor market, could be of a longer-term nature: “At the moment there are many indications that the war will continue. We are preparing accordingly for the people who are currently looking for protection with us, but will stay longer in the region. We try to continue to support them as best we can in their search for a job,” says Windisch.

Meanwhile, the situation on the labor market is quite stable overall. “The demand for workers in our region is still high and the chances for all job seekers are good overall,” says Windisch. In January, the regional companies informed the employment agencies in the districts of Freising, Erding, Dachau and Ebersberg about 733 new jobs to be filled. There were a total of 6374 job offers in the job pool of the employment agency. That was 990 more jobs compared to January 2022. This trend can also be seen in the Ebersberg district, where there are currently 1534 vacancies – 61 more than in the previous year.
