A slow decline, but a decline all the same. According to data released Tuesday by Public health France, the number of Covid-19 patients in French hospitals continues to decline. Currently, 19,430 patients with Covid-19 are hospitalized (against 19,701 the day before), including 796 admitted in the last twenty-four hours.

This figure, which had exceeded 31,000 at the height of the third wave in mid-April, fell below 20,000 on Saturday for the first time since October 27.

Fewer people in intensive care

This decline is also observed in intensive care. Critical care services (a name that includes resuscitation, intensive care and continuing care services) have 3,447 patients on Tuesday (against 3,496 the day before).

Since Monday, 205 patients have been admitted to these services which take care of the most seriously ill patients.

199 deaths in 24 hours

The number of patients in critical care remained around 6,000 between mid-April and early May, before dropping sharply since.

In the past 24 hours, 199 people with Covid-19 have died in hospital (after 70 Sunday and 62 Monday).
