The group of deputies of La France insoumise, led by Mathilde Panot, sent an official letter to the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, so that the latter applies Article 50.1 of the Constitution so that he “Goes to the National Assembly to make a statement on the words of the President of the Republic” and “That this declaration be followed by a debate which will enable the government to answer questions from deputies, representatives of the French people”.
Article 50.1 of the Constitution, which dates from October 4, 1958, states: “Before one or the other of the assemblies, the government may, on its own initiative or at the request of a parliamentary group within the meaning of Article 51.1, make a declaration on a specific subject which gives rise to debate and may, if it so decides, be the subject of a vote without incurring any liability. “
