Friedrich Merz is not known for being reticent – but this attack is sharp even by his standards. Germany is increasingly isolated internationally, trust in the chancellor is falling rapidly, and German foreign policy over the past 20 years is in ruins, says the CDU leader. He threatens the chancellor to apply to the Bundestag for the delivery of heavy weapons to Ukraine. And his goal is clear: He is not just interested in helping Ukraine. He also wants to disclose the differences in the traffic light coalition.
