The mayors of the 19th, Pantin and Aubervilliers ask Emmanuel Macron to intervene

In a few days, the “crack plan” launched in 2019 by the State, the town hall of Paris and a few associations will officially end. In all, nearly $ 25 million has been spent and the record is more than meager. Worse, the crack issue continues to tear apart all parties concerned, from elected officials to residents.

To definitively take over this problem, three elected officials, François Dagnaud, mayor of the 19th arrondissement of Paris, Karine Franclet, mayor of Aubervilliers and Bertrand Kern, mayor of Pantin, appeal to the President of the Republic. By means of an online petition, they ask him to intervene, he who is the only one to have “the authority to stimulate and impose a coordination of the actors, to put an end to this shame and to set up a French model of out of crack ”.

The Paris-Pantin wall does not pass

In this petition, elected officials recall that the Paris police prefect, Didier Lallement, at the request of the Minister of the Interior had issued an order moving crack users from the Jardin d’Eole (18th arrondissement) to the square de la Villette , without informing the elected officials closest to the premises.

A wall had even been built between Paris and Pantin to “protect the inhabitants of Pantin”, but depriving them of the only gentle traffic between the two cities. A wall described by elected officials as “negation of years of efforts to forge links between Paris and its suburbs”.

Necessary reception places

The petition reminds Emmanuel Macron of Gérald Darmanin’s promise at the time, the situation will only last “a few hours, a few days”. Three months later, the health and social situation deteriorated further. Two people were even found dead at the scene, one of them from an overdose.

The petition therefore asks the President of the Republic to find a solution for the rehousing and care of crack users, suggesting that if hospitals do not have the necessary beds, other vacant places can be requisitioned and converted into a care center and accommodation on a human scale. A request that echoes the difficult negotiations for the installation of shooting rooms in Paris. An imperative when the rain and the cold have been raging for weeks.
