The mayor of Marcq-en-Barœul is opposed to the arrival of Izïa Higelin in concert in his city

This Sunday evening, on website home page from Marcq-en-Barœul (North), Izïa Higelin still appeared as the headliner of the concert organized at the hippodrome of the town this Thursday, July 13. However, his presence at the event seems questioned.

“The coming to Marcq-en-Barœul of this artist, for a public, free and family concert would be in contradiction with the values of gathering which prevail during our National Day”, declared this Sunday Bernard Gérard the mayor of this city of 39,000 inhabitants, to our colleagues from The voice of the North.

“I do not believe that the Marcquois want to legitimize such an offense”, tweeted Violette Spillebout on her side, Renaissance MP for the Ninth District of the North. A message to which she added the hashtag “Violence against elected officials”.

imaginary lynching

These statements follow the opening, Saturday, by the Nice prosecutor’s office, of an investigation, targeting Izïa Higelin, for “public provocation to commit a crime or an offense”. The singer had described, Thursday evening, on stage in Beaulieu-sur-Mer (Alpes-Maritimes), an imaginary lynching of Emmanuel Macron.

She imagined the Head of State, “20 m from the ground like a giant human piñata”, that the spectators, “armed with huge bats with nails at the end” would hit. “In a bengal fire of joy, of living flesh and blood, we would put him on the ground, but gently, you see…”, she continued.

The footage, posted on the magazine’s website and TikTok account InOut French Riviera, has been widely shared on social media in recent hours. SATURDAY, the daily Nice morning evoked an unsuccessful attempt by the gendarmes to question Izïa Higelin after this concert on Thursday.
