The mayor denounces a “political instrumentalisation” during the visit of Kylian Mbappé

Kylian Mbappé’s surprise visit to Bondy rekindles political tensions in the city. This Wednesday, November 17, the player was visiting AS Bondy, his childhood club, to distribute his comic book My name is kylian which just appeared. He went to the Léo Lagrange stadium to meet the young players and offer it to them.

The visit was kept secret. So secret that even the municipality has not been informed of its arrival, while the stadium is a property of the town hall, reports France Blue. The sports assistant, Azzedine Drif, having learned by chance of his presence, sought to meet him. Upon arriving at the stadium, he was refused entry by security guards.

“It is clearly an act of campaign”

He would have been made to understand that he had to “get out of the field” because nobody wanted “policies” on the spot, reports the media. However, the elected official had time to notice the presence of Sylvine Thomassin, the former socialist mayor of Bondy, close to the Mbappé family.

Furious that its elected officials were refused access to the stadium, while the city subsidizes the sports club of AS Bondy to the tune of 1.2 million euros, and the presence of Sylvie Thomassin, the mayor Stephen Hervé (LR) denounces political manipulation. Contacted by France Bleu Paris, Sylvine Thomassin, now an opposition municipal councilor, denounces a “false trial”.

Following the appeal filed by Sylvine Thomassin to demand the cancellation of the last municipal elections in June 2020, the Council of State must render its decision on Monday, November 22. If the institution sides with its side, new elections will have to be organized.
