The Hérault prefecture is taking a first step in easing the wearing of masks in the department. From this Wednesday, wearing a mask, which was compulsory everywhere in the Hérault, will now be “optional in the non-urbanized parts of the communes”, indicate the State services, “if the following conditions are met: low human density and respect for social distancing ”.

However, the mask will remain compulsory “in all urbanized spaces” and in all establishments open to the public, continues the prefecture.

“An improving health situation”

The Hérault prefecture justifies its decision by “the continuity of the progressive plan to lift restriction measures, and taking into account a health situation which is improving in the department”. It nevertheless indicates that the “reduction in epidemic indicators in the department must be accompanied by increased caution to guarantee the conditions for gradual deconfinement.” The first reflex that is imposed on everyone is to maintain vigilance and barrier gestures ”.

The incidence rate of Covid-19 was, Monday, 90 cases per 100,000 inhabitants over the last seven days, in the Hérault. In France, it was 140 on Monday.
