The majority of French people favor continued aid to Ukraine

According to a poll published by La Tribune on Sunday, 41% of French people believe that the delivery of arms to Ukraine should continue.

A majority of French people want to maintain or increase aid from Paris to Ukraine, in conflict for almost two years with Russia since the invasion of part of its territory in February 2022, according to an Ipsos survey for the weekly La Tribune Sunday published Saturday evening.

For almost three quarters of people questioned in France, the delivery to Kiev of humanitarian materials (medicines, food, etc.) must be maintained (44% of respondents) or increased ( 32%), according to this opinion survey carried out from February 13 to 15 among a representative sample of 1,000 people, aged 18 and over, ©residents of mainland France.

The delivery of French arms to Ukraine should continue (41%) or increase (21%), against 38% of unfavorable opinions, reveals this poll. Supporters of French military aid are, however, down 10 percentage points compared to June 2023. Public opinion also approves by a majority (70%) of the economic sanctions imposed on Russia following the invasion of Ukraine, compared to 30% who believe that they should be reduced.

As for the reception of Ukrainian refugees in France, 46% of respondents want it to continue and 19% to increase it. Some 35% want this reception to be reduced, or 11 points more than in June 2023.
