The LFP disciplinary committee takes no sanctions against Marseille

Last week, Fabio Grosso called for “important decisions” regarding the stone-throwing of the Lyon bus, near the Vélodrome stadium before the Olympico on October 29. Main victim of these serious incidents which led to the postponement of the match in Marseille, with 12 stitches above the eye and 30 days of ITT, the OL coach was not heard by the LFP disciplinary committee Wednesday evening.

Seized by the president of the LFP Vincent Labrune, it has in fact published a communicated shortly before midnight to deliver its long-awaited decision, given the seriousness of the facts. “The disciplinary committee, after having read the elements of the file and hearing the two clubs, notes that the incidents which occurred on the public highway are not likely to engage the responsibility of the organizing club. Consequently, the commission will not take disciplinary action on these incidents,” it said in the press release.

Clearly, no sanction has been taken by the League against Olympique de Marseille. The verdict of the disciplinary committee concerning the behavior of the Lyon supporters, perpetrators of Nazi salutes, monkey cries and racist insults in the visitor’s parking lot, that evening in Marseille, will be delivered on November 22. Rescheduled for December 6, the Olympico between OM and OL should, given the evening’s decision, be played at the Vélodrome, and probably not behind closed doors.
