The La Défense tunnel closed due to a collapse

It was an unusual event that affected the La Défense tunnel on the A14 motorway. The latter is indeed “closed to traffic in the direction of Paris for 2 hours this [vendredi] morning following the collapse on the roadway of part of a wall in the tunnel”, announces a press release from the Direction des routes d’Île-de-France (DiRIF). Fortunately, the collapse did not cause any damage to tunnel users. “For the moment, we do not know the causes of this incident, indicates the DiRIF. Our efforts are mainly focused on restoring circulation as quickly as possible. »

The pieces of collapsed wall, which is not load-bearing, have already been removed. But “as a precaution, we are in the process of depositing the rest of the wall over several tens of meters”, specifies the same source. Obviously this deconstruction takes time, in particular because of “the presence of numerous networks and ducts in the immediate vicinity of the wall”, indicates the press release. Thus the DiRIF hopes for a reopening of the tunnel next night. In the meantime, we will have to take side roads.
