“The first 200,000 vaccines are delivered to pharmacies, doctors and liberal nurses who will be able to start offering it to their patients from this Saturday,” the minister said at a government press conference. Unlike other vaccines already used in France (Pfizer / BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca), “this vaccine (…) only requires one injection for you to be protected, no booster shots, no second injection”, a- he stressed.

New vaccinated populations

Olivier Véran also announced that the vaccination would be “open from next Monday” for relatives of people “in a situation of severe immuno-depression”, which concerns “several hundred thousand” people in France.

He also indicated that he had “seized the scientific committees” about the vaccination of people under 50 years of age suffering from severe obesity who are at increased risk of severe form of Covid-19 but are not eligible for vaccination for the moment. “The response will not be long in coming, but it is likely that we can also start there by mid-May,” said the minister.
