The Iranian Documentary Film Festival Munich takes place in the Werkstattkino – Munich

Iran is not finding peace, after the escalation in the Middle East conflict, the news about a nuclear program and the death of President Raisi, new elections are soon to be held in the seemingly unpredictable theocracy. If you want to learn more about the country beyond the news, you should read the Munich Workshop Cinema visit: The Iranian Documentary Film Festival is taking place there for the second time, with 16 films (including several short films in program blocks) from the Middle Eastern state being shown over four days.

The range of topics is broad, covering family, society, history and the Islamic Revolution in 1979. The Munich-based documentary filmmaker Daniel Asadi Faezi presents his film “Slowly Forgetting Your Faces”, which is about the history of his family in Iran and Germany. “The Football Aficionado” is about female football fans: since women are banned from stadiums, they dress up as men so that they can attend live matches of FC Persepolis in Tehran, for example. “Destiny” tells the story of a young woman who has lost her mother and wants to find her own way. And in “Eastwood” an amateur filmmaker goes in search of a man who looks like Clint Eastwood.
