The images are unmistakable. The IGPN, the general inspectorate of the national police, has been seized of an investigation for violence by persons holding public authority, learns 20 minutes with the Marseille prosecutor’s office. This judicial investigation follows the violent arrest of a young couple in Marseille on the night of Thursday to Friday. A video of the intervention was posted on social networks.

Reassigned on a conservatory basis

As relates Provence, the police intervened for an evening in an apartment in the district of Saint-Charles station. Police from the Center Division arrested a young man who was trying to escape through scaffolding. He seems to be cooperating, but a police officer hits him several times, before grabbing him by the hair in the direction of the police vehicle, while he is handcuffed. His companion, who tries to help him, is several times thrown to the ground and gassed. The police accuse the young man of contempt, rebellion and violence against the police. What he refutes.

The young couple was taken into custody for 40 hours, before being released with a simple reminder of the law. The police headquarters said on Monday that the two officials were reassigned as a precaution to functions not involving missions on the public highway, pending the result of the administrative investigation.
