The end of the ordeal for the nightlife? Guest this morning on RMC / BFMTV; Olivier Véran assured that the government “is working” on a reopening “this summer” of discotheques, in complete shutdown for 15 months. The Minister of Health clarified that Alain Griset, Minister Delegate in charge of small businesses, is discussing with the owners of discotheques in this perspective and that his own ministry is also working on a health protocol.

“From June 21 we will know more,” he said, confirming the appointment given by President Emmanuel Macron to professionals in the sector. This work aims to define the conditions under which these establishments will again be able to welcome the public, underlined Olivier Véran.

Conditions yet to be defined

“Does it go through an exceptional health pass? That is to say that it would be required for less than 1,000 people, it is a possibility and I said it myself, I think it makes enough sense to do it. Are there any ventilation systems required (…), that’s all that we are in the process of fine-tuning, ”explained the Minister of Health.

The two main professional unions in the sector, the Umih and the GNI, indicated last week that they were negotiating with the government for the reopening of establishments on June 30, and agreed that the health pass is required at the entrance, while also asking for the possibility that customers can enter after having carried out a self-test on site. According to professionals, the protocol should include obligations in terms of ventilation and wearing a mask.
