The Franco-Irish detained by the regime is “in a critical state of health”

Bernard Phelan, the Franco-Irish detained in Iran since October and who has started a hunger and thirst strike, is now “in critical condition”, a French diplomatic source told AFP on Wednesday.

“He shows serious signs of physical and psychological exhaustion,” she said, without specifying whether his vital prognosis was engaged. The Iranian authorities have so far refused to release Bernard Phelan on medical grounds despite repeated requests from the French and Irish authorities, the same source said.
