The federal government is sloppy when it comes to whistleblower protection. Now the EU is sending the bill. – Culture

Despite endless reminders, the federal government has not managed to implement EU regulations to protect whistleblowers. This is already expensive for Germany – and it could become even more so. Story of a shameful failure.

How expensive is bad governance, and how high are the costs of political decisions that are not made or are simply postponed and delayed? Unfortunately, this question has often arisen in recent years: in the pandemic, where the failure to procure masks before the health catastrophe cost not only money but also lives. It arises when Deutsche Bahn takes longer again or the complex plans for tolls on German motorways are discarded. Or currently, when the Federal Association of German Industries can point out without contradiction that up to 150 permits are necessary to transport a wind turbine through Germany.
