The ex-wife of Eric Ciotti would have received eight times the hourly minimum wage to attend the Assembly

After the article of chained duck, who accused him last week of having hired his ex-wife “under penelopesque conditions” between 2007 and 2016, Eric Ciotti considered himself “basely attacked”. The LR deputy for the Alpes-Maritimes, candidate for the presidency of the party, assured that Caroline Magne had accumulated activities in the city of Nice, in the Alpes-Maritimes department and at her side, as a parliamentary attaché, “in the strict compliance with laws and regulations.

But for what income? This is precisely what revealed Release this Monday after having peeled the statement of career of the interested party. At the National Assembly, she would thus have received “20,000 euros per year for 5.5 hours per week represent a remuneration of 70 euros gross per hour”, “eight times the hourly minimum wage at the time”, notes the daily.

Up to 94,500 euros of gross annual income

And if her job as a parliamentary collaborator was not “full-time and by far”, as Eric Ciotti specified in a press release on November 16, it was precisely to allow her to stay, “within 40 minutes” according to Releaseunder the maximum ceiling of 44 hours per week provided for by the Labor Code.

Because Caroline Magne accumulated several contracts which enabled her to reach up to 94,500 euros in gross income, in 2009. 11,700 euros from the Nice-Côte d’Azur urban community. In these communities, she held the position of chief of staff of Christian Estrosi, for whom she already worked when he was president of the Alpes-Maritimes department, in 2007 and 2008.

A triple hat denounced by some. “I had a contract of five hours a week as a parliamentary assistant, because in addition to my position at the town hall of Nice, I actually worked for Eric [Ciotti] in the constituency. However, I did not want people to say that the time I devoted to him was paid for by the city, ”replies Caroline Magne in the columns of Release.

No accumulation authorization request

Except that, according to the daily, “there was no request for authorization of accumulation granted by the city of Nice, as the law requires”. Nor by that of La Colle-sur-Loup, where she became director general of services (DGS) in September 2014, and while she still receives 10,000 euros annually as her husband’s parliamentary assistant. A position she will hold until August 2016.

Solicited by Release, the representative of Anticor in the Alpes-Maritimes said “to wonder about the compatibility between the different jobs held, both on the functions themselves and on the number of hours worked”. And Jean-Valéry Dessens warns that the anti-corruption association could proceed, “in the coming days, to a report to the prosecution”.

Today, after devoting herself to other activities, Caroline Magne has returned to politics. Since August 2021, she has been DGS at the town hall of Mandelieu-La Napoule, led by LR Sébastien Leroy, one of Eric Ciotti’s biggest supporters in the department, recalls Release. She receives 5,700 euros gross per month, or 68,500 euros per year.
