6:52 am: The French Minister for the Armed Forces at the Pentagon
While Emmanuel Macron is in the United States for a state visit, the Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu met his American counterpart Lloyd Austin on Wednesday at the Pentagon. They “stressed the importance of maintaining the strong bilateral cooperation between our two countries, and signed a declaration of intent that codifies our shared principles”, the Pentagon said.
For the head of the Pentagon, the text enforces “our commitments in the field of counter-terrorism throughout the world, from Africa to the Indo-Pacific”, and strengthens “our cooperation in the space and cyber fields” . The two ministers also spoke of “support for Ukraine, and the strength of the NATO Alliance”.
