The Drôme and the Ardèche placed in orange vigilance, according to Météo France

Drôme and Ardèche (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) were placed on orange alert for thunderstorms on Tuesday, Météo France announced on its website. The situation is “still calm” at the end of the morning but it could deteriorate in the afternoon.

According to the forecaster, the south-east of France will be affected by thunderstorms and the two departments will be affected by these violent phenomena which should end in the evening. This “severely stormy summer situation requires particular vigilance insofar as there is a high risk (a high probability) of a violent phenomenon”, explains the forecaster.

Between 20 to 40 mm in less than an hour are expected, locally this could go up to 60 mm, warns Météo France which adds: “It is above all the rainy nature of these storms which is to be feared, even if a little hail or fairly strong gusts of wind remain possible”, specifies Météo France.

The neighboring departments, in particular Isère, Vaucluse, and Gard may also be affected by heavy accumulations of rain in a short time, “but to a lesser extent”.
