“The Devil’s Long Breath” with Thiel and Boerne – SWR3

They were often mostly funny, the crime scenes from Team Münster Thiel and Boerne. This time there is the right mix of dry humor and a serious criminal case, says SWR3 crime scene checker Michael Haas.

Happy Birthday: The Tatort Team Münster is 20 years old

“Well, you look pretty disheveled again!” Forensic pathologist Boerne welcomes Commissioner Thiel once again from above. As always. I immediately notice that after the many crime scenes in Münster, I no longer really feel like pure slapstick. And in fact there is no trace of it in this crime scene. But it has to come to this soon. We experience a crying inspector Thiel, because his father is seriously ill in the university clinic. Seems to be serious. That’s why Thiel gets drunk in some hotel bar in the evening. And don’t know anything the next morning. Not even where he parked his father’s taxi.

There’s only one thing he can definitely rule out. He doesn’t want to get behind the wheel drunk. When looking for the taxi, Boerne and Thiel then accidentally get caught up in a murder case. A man’s body was found in the forest. But nothing is random.

Thiel becomes the prime suspect in a murder case

There is a connection between the two: Thiel had convicted the man of murder many years ago and put him in prison. And precisely because of this connection, Commissioner Thiel of all people suddenly becomes the main suspect, but can’t remember anything because of his hotel bar excursion. And now the evidence is piling up against him.

How good if you have a “Ffffff…” in this situation, as Thiel says in the film. And that means Boerne, but can’t call him “friend”. Not yet. Nevertheless, past the official investigation, Boerne secretly starts his own investigations – to help Thiel out of trouble.

Real men – friendship or just colleagues?

This leads to a wonderful criminal case. The inspector as the suspect who is investigating his own case together with a “Fffff…” is not new, but I was amused and watched with a permanent grin. Because not only silly things are told, but also a serious story that is also played very seriously. Bravo, great achievement!

Summary of the crime scene “The Devil’s Long Breath”

A good story and casual humor make the scene of the crime entertaining. After about half you think you’ve solved the case for yourself, but think! New clues appear at just the right time. And feelings. Definitely “ffffff”-friendly. Interesting case, appropriate humor, and something else for the heart: everyone kind of loves each other. The perfect mix! Five out of five moose!
