The design museum lends chairs to individuals during its extended closure

What if a super trendy designer chair made an appearance in your living room? The Museum of Decorative Arts and Design of Bordeaux (Madd), closed since January 2023, will not reopen its doors until 2026 after extensive rehabilitation which should cost nearly 14 million euros. Until then, the museum intends not to lose the link with its public. And to prevent his pieces from gathering dust, he had an original idea.

Free loans of designer chairs

About ten models of designer chairs will be lent this summer free of charge to individuals who wish to do so, against good care, for three weeks. All the indications are to be found online on the establishment’s website, reservations will be possible from June 14th and 15th. The operation will be repeated in September.

“An unprecedented opportunity to discover the challenges of design differently and share, with those around you, the history, the manufacture and all the links that you will have woven with this new object in your daily life”, writes the Madd on its site.
